Baan Dvara-Prateep means “house that opens to the inner light” , located on the island of Koh Kred. Known as the “pottery island”, Koh Kred is in the middle of the Chao Phraya River in Non-thaburi, just north of Bangkok. Koh Kred, the only fresh water island of the Chao Phraya River, has been the residence of migrated Mon for more than 300 years. The people are highly skilled potters, making and selling their wares around the island.

Baan Dvara-Prateep is the house of sweet serenity for anyone who seeks for real relaxation through riverine natural appreciation. Specially, this house is willing to offer varied activities of the real Thais and its culture. Here, one can experience the Oriental Stretching exercise which stimulates long life by better circulation. Most of all, the true happiness one would gain from here is to discover oneself with a sparking inner self like seeing a glittering light of a candle in the dark once walking through the “Gate of light” , which is what the house literally means in Thai.
Baan Dvara-Prateep is a compound of wooden houses standing on stilts attached to the bank of Chao Phraya River, embraced by a tranquil local village. The house is simple but attractive and tastefully designed to stimulate the feeling of real relaxation. It has only 12 guest rooms, at first aimed for the family’s member and friends. The bedrooms are equipped with necessary amenities, except Tv, refrigerator and telephone. The multi-purpose room. Is spacious for indoor activities and gracefully designed, situated next to Home Museum of Stupa Study. The main living area is opened to nature. And please note that drinking of any alcoholic beverage and any kind of gambling are not permitted.

Loy Krathong
Neatly floating banana leaves in shape of krathong brightened with candle lit in the middle ornamented with flowers on the flowing rive reveals of the Thai way of belief to pay gratitude to the living river. On ordinary days Krathong is floating to the river for sharing merit and happiness to living spirits along the river. The important day is on fullmoon night, the night considered as holy night in Buddhism, we float Krathong to pay Homage to the Lord Buddha, also to share light and happiness to the living spirits.
